Irish Mission Family Camp 2010
A country church, a traditional cottage, flowers in bloom and open green fields set the scene which greeted campers and day visitors as the Newmarket on Fergus Seventh Day Adventist Church hosted the Irish Mission Family Camp Meeting 2010 over the August holiday weekend.
Over 250 people were blessed by the peaceful location, the gigantic marquees, the wonderful fellowship, and especially by the dynamic preaching of Pastor Ian Sweeney, NEC President.
Choirs from the North, South, East and West of Ireland enriched each worship service and united those attending as almost every country in the world was represented under canvas.
Campers from all Adventist churches in Ireland witnessed five baptisms in the outdoor pool.
A special welcome was extended to our brothers and sisters who made the long journey down from Northern Ireland.
Kids in the kitchen meant that the children learned more about healthy eating and healthy bodies in a fun filled programme while their parents grew spiritually without little distractions. The children were so engrossed that the apple orchard escaped attack this year.
Meanwhile in the real kitchen, a team of dedicated ladies fed the multitudes and the miracle of the loaves and fishes came alive as over 1600 meals were served over the 4 day period.
On Sunday the ABC book shop opened its doors in the picturesque cottage where a vast array of books were offered for sale to the campers.
The Irish Mission President, Pastors with their families and an army of volunteers helped to make the weekend a huge success. The local Pastor is already planning on developing the site facilities for a growing and increasingly popular event.
On Monday evening August 2nd the flowers were still in bloom, the orchard still intact, the green fields vacated as life at the Newmarket on Fergus Church returned to normal but for those happy campers on their way home lives had been changed by the Holy Spirit and transformed by the powerful Word of God.
